Some float tanks have open designs and others have sound and light proof designs. Many people like a bigger floor plan, some like a circular one and others need just enough space and don't need to move around and don't care if the space is really tight. I like to stretch out my arms sometimes and some spas are so small that I become intolerant of being in the same position too long.
For those that arre claustrophobic, a design that has high celilings and makes the person feel like the space is less confined is better for them. Having light colored walls with a choosable colors of lights is also preferred especially to someone that the owner of the float tub thinks they might have a client that is claustrophobic.
Some designs have a built in shower and others are just stand alone float tanks. some have sliding doors and others have swinging doors. It is good to have a shower built in right next to the float tank cuz when people get out they are dripping with salt water and no one likes cleaning it up. T/he space from the float tank exit to the shower should be as minimal as possible.
